The Robin red breast

The robin redbreast is a small, round bodied songbird easily recognised by its bright orange-red chest and face. Common across gardens, woodlands, and parks in Europe, especially the UK, the robin is a familiar and much loved bird, often associated with winter and featured on Christmas cards.

Robins are bold and curious, sometimes following gardeners to snatch up unearthed worms. Their sweet, melodic song can be heard year-round, even during the colder months. Although they appear friendly, robins are fiercely territorial and will defend their space with surprising aggression.

Symbolising warmth, resilience, and the changing seasons, the robin redbreast holds a special place in both nature and folklore.
